During the assembly of a 140m long 6.3m span 4.2m rise aluminium multi-plate culvert, Katalin was part of a team who was called on to provide a solution to assembly challenges and played a key role in developing a solution for the problematic section.
This enabled the successful completion of the structure and avoided significant financial consequences for the project. Project done while working for CSP Pacific.

ABB's medium voltage products production facility in Henderson, Auckland, engaged TechPro Plus to provide assistance in achieving a fully sealed connection for a stainless steel component for their new manufacturing process.
After in-depth investigation and testing, a modified design and manufacturing process was suggested to ABB, which passed the required rigorous testing regime. Solving this challenge has provided ABB (www.abb.com/nz) with a quality connection and faster production time.

As part of Risk management, Safety and QA, Telecommunication towers need to be inspected periodically. Due to our extensive knowledge of corrosion and expertise in designing, manufacturing and inspecting telecommunication and transmission towers, TechPro Plus has and is still providing comprehensive written reports with detailed photographs in collaboration with Inter Pro.
The reports are providing the telecommunication companies with the required information to assist in maintaining and repairing their towers for maximum longevity.

TechPro Plus was engaged by Infratel to design and manufacture replacement sections for the curved “catwalk” of Rua o Te Whenua radar tower in the Waitakere Ranges. The new parts needed to be installed in a safe and fast manner with no site welding or fabrication.
The newly designed parts were rigorously QA checked before leaving the factory to forego issues on site. Given that the radar needed to be back in operation quickly there was no margin for error.
The new parts fitted perfectly on the first go, and were installed swiftly. The result is an almost identical looking and newly corrosion coated structure with site adjustments which can withstand the harsh elements of the West Coast, for years to come.

TechPro Plus was invited by Lion Rock Ventures to provide a recommendation for a design improvement of a mechanical component of Buzzy BeeTM, an iconic New Zealand children's toy.
After detailed investigation TechPro Plus developed a recommendation and liaised with the manufacturer to complete the implementation.
The result was an improved manufacturing process for Buzzy BeeTM, backed up by thorough laboratory testing to AS/NZS ISO 8124.1.

After observing the installation difficulties of a telecommunication column ground stub, Katalin initiated the concept and developed a structurally engineered product solution, which enabled easy underground cable access from various directions.
This delivered significant time saving and reduced installation costs. This design has been successfully used for 10 years by a range of telecommunications companies in New Zealand.
Over time other aspects of the structure such as shrouds and antenna mounting brackets were also redesigned to further economise on installation and to eliminate compliance issues with local authorities.
Katalin also developed the tender drawing’s concepts for the client’s next telecommunications rollout, while working as the Engineering Manager for CSP Pacific.

Solution to Industry Challenge
Katalin has played a pivotal role in developing a field proven, innovative and cost effective corrosion resistance solution while at CSP Pacific.
This product is applied to CSP Pacific’s ground planted steel structures and offered with a 20 year system warranty. It is now specified by local councils as their preferred option for corrosion protection.
As an outcome of this work Katalin is being consulted regarding corrosion matters for steel embedded structures by other engineers nationally.
